The heat advisory that covered southeast Missouri, most of
southern Illinois, and west Kentucky along and west of the Land
between the Lakes, has expired.

At 8 pm CDT, heat index values ranged from the middle 80s to
middle 90s across the area that was covered by the advisory.

Heat index values are expected to fall into the upper 70s to
middle 80s overnight.

A few locations may approach 105 degrees in southeast Missouri
during the early afternoon on Thursday, but showers and
thunderstorms are expected to keep most heat index values below
100 degrees on Thursday.

Relatively cooler and drier weather is expected for the weekend.
