...STRONG THUNDERSTORM ALONG HWY 89 NORTH OF SATTLEY...

AT 559 PM PDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE METEOROLOGISTS WERE
TRACKING A STRONG THUNDERSTORM ALONG HWY 89 BETWEEN
SATTLEY AND CALPINE...MOVING NORTH AT 30 MPH.

THIS STORM IS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF SMALL HAIL UP
TO DIME SIZED WHICH MAY ACCUMULATE ON ROADWAYS. CLOUD TO GROUND
LIGHTNING AND TORRENTIAL RAINFALL ARE EXPECTED. SIGNIFICANT PONDING
OF WATER IS POSSIBLE ON THE ROAD ALONG WITH REDUCED VISIBILITY.


LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE... HWY 89 BETWEEN SATTLEY AND
CALPINE...BECKWOURTH PEAK...IRON HORSE...AND PORTOLA.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

DURING A THUNDERSTORM...SEEK SHELTER INSIDE A STURDY STRUCTURE AND
STAY AWAY FROM WINDOWS. HIKERS AND CAMPERS SHOULD SEEK SHELTER IN A
VEHICLE IF POSSIBLE.
