WEATHER SUMMARY
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PADUCAH KY
238 PM CST FRI Dec 18 2014

Overcast skies were draped over much of the region early this
morning resulting in little temperature drop from daytime highs
yesterday, down into the lower 30s. The exception was along the I-64
corridor where brief clearing had taken place to allow temperatures
to drop into the upper 20s. The sun did peak out for some locations
east of the Mississippi River late this morning and early afternoon
but mid and high clouds are streaming back in from the west ahead of
the storm system passing by to our south tonight. Temperatures at
2pm range from 37 at Mount Vernon, IL to 41 at Paducah with calm to
light northeast winds as surface high pressure resides overhead.

Surface low pressure and its associated precipitation will slide
eastward along the Gulf Coast states tonight south of our area.
Surface high pressure will then dominate the region this weekend
with a gradual warming trend noted as high temperatures climb into
the 40s on Saturday and into the low 50s by Monday. Rain chances
return for Monday associated with a deep upper level trough set to
dig into the country heading into Christmas. Precipitation chances
will continue into Christmas Eve before surface high pressure brings
dry weather for Christmas Day. Some snow is possible as colder air
filters into the area Tuesday night into Wednesday. Temperatures
will gradually cool from their early week high down into the 30s for
Christmas Eve before rebounding into the 40s on Christmas Day. After
a warm night in the 40s Monday night lows will drop down primarily
into the 30s for the rest of the period.
