The risk for rip currents is low, however, life threatening rip currents often occur in the vicinity of the South Padre Island jetties. Remember to swim near a lifeguard. Lightning Risk: None. Ultraviolet Index: High. Wear a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses, and use sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher. Seek shade during the midday hours of 10 am to 4 pm. Weather: Mostly sunny. Isolated showers.
