A weak upper-level disturbance moving through the area Monday will bring a few showers and afternoon thunderstorms to portions of central and northeastern Nevada but significant precipitation is not anticipated. Lingering showers will exit central Nevada Tuesday with highs in the 70s and lows in the 40s for the rest of the week. && .SHORT TERM...Tonight through Sunday night Mostly clear skies and diminishing north winds are expected tonight as afternoon clouds dissipate this evening. A high pressure ridge will bring quiet weather tot eh area Sunday although a few late day showers may develop across western Humboldt county. However, chances for any rain at all are less than 10% western Humboldt county. Winds will be out of the northwest as temperatures rise into the 70s, several degrees above today, across valleys after Sunday morning lows in the 30s and 40s. .LONG TERM...Monday through Saturday Quick moving upper trough passing through the Pacific NW on Monday will clip NV, resulting in a 10-30% chance of isolated showers across the eastern half of Nevada for Monday afternoon. Quiet conditions will return for the Silver state for the remainder of the week, as most of NV will be between a slow moving upper low near the four corners region and a upper level ridge that will be well of shore of the Oregon coast. This will pace NE Nevada under a dry NW flow aloft, which will allow for temperatures to remain steady as the week progresses.Temperatures begin the week above normal and look to remain above normal through Saturday as highs range from the mid 70s to mid 80s, and overnight lows range in the low 40s to low 50s. Winds for the work week will be out of the W to NW direction generally during the afternoons at speed of 5 to 15 MPH with gusts up to 25 MPH possible. && .AVIATION...VFR conditions will be the primary flight conditions through Sunday with light northerly winds of 5KT to 15KT. This will keep streams, creeks, and rivers elevated. Spring-time temperatures with daytime highs in the 70s and possibly the low 80s for some locales. Overnight lows across the high elevations are also likely to remain above freezing, further aiding snow melt. Otherwise, dry conditions are expected SUnday with a few showers across the area Monday. However, the probability of wetting rains Monday is less than 10% even in higher terrain so substantial hydrologic impact from falling precipitation is not expected. Dry conditions are expected statewide Tuesday through the latter part of the week. The Humboldt River at Battle Mountain has fallen below action state so the flood advisory has been cancelled. River levels are expected to continue to decrease slowly through early next week. The Humboldt River at Comus is in action stage and is forecast to remain in action stage for the next few days.
