.DISCUSSION...
Hot temperatures rising into the upper 90s to near 103 degrees will
result in very low relative humidity with values bottoming out below
10 percent west of the I-27 corridor and 10-20 percent to the east.
However, a relatively weak surface pressure gradient is expected to
result in afternoon wind speeds mostly in a range of 10-15 mph at
the 20 foot level. Yesterday`s hot, dry, and breezy conditions
likely helped lead to a deterioration in fuel conditions, especially
near the New Mexico state line. At this time the highest chance of
reaching elevated fire weather conditions will be across the far
southwestern Panhandle where wind speeds have a chance of exceeding
15 mph at the 20 foot level.
