The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a

* Flood Warning for Urban Areas and Small Streams in...
  DuPage County in northeastern Illinois...
  Northwestern Will County in northeastern Illinois...
  Cook County in northeastern Illinois...

* Until 745 AM CST Tuesday

* At 140 AM CST, emergency management officials reported flooding
  was occurring in portions of DuPage County. Additional flooding
  was reported in Cook County by trained spotters. Heavy rain from
  thunderstorms may cause additional flooding across portions of the
  Chicago Metropolitan area this morning. One to two inches of rain
  has already fallen and frozen ground conditions has resulted in
  rapid runoff.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Chicago, Aurora, Joliet, Naperville, Cicero, Arlington Heights,
  Evanston, Schaumburg, Bolingbrook, Palatine, Skokie, Des Plaines,
  Orland Park, Tinley Park, Oak Lawn, Berwyn, Mount Prospect,
  Wheaton, Hoffman Estates and Oak Park.


Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
