Weather Summary for the local Tri-State Region
National Weather Service New York NY
318 PM EST Mon Jan 16 2017

Clouds will increase tonight as an area of low pressure
approaches from the west. Precipitation will overspread the area
from west to east Tuesday morning. With temperatures initially
below freezing, this precipitation will start as a period of
freezing rain well north and west of New York City across parts of
northeast New Jersey, the Lower Hudson Valley, and interior
southern Connecticut. Elsewhere, temperatures will be warm enough
for all of the precipitation to fall as plain rain.

Any freezing rain will become plain rain by early Tuesday afternoon
as temperatures rise above freezing. The rain will then continue
into early Wednesday morning before beginning to taper off as the
low passes north and eventually east of the area. Temperatures
during this period will remain slightly above normal, with highs
ranging from the upper 30s to mid 40s.
