Weather Summary for the Local Tri-State Region
National Weather Service New York NY
342 PM EST Wed Dec 13 2017

Clouds will increase tonight as a weak low approaches the area
from the northwest and tracks south of Long Island through
Thursday morning. Out ahead of the low, light snow will overspread
the region after midnight before tapering off from west to east
Thursday morning. The highest snowfall totals are expected across
Long Island, where 2-3 inches of snow is expected. Temperatures
will remain below normal, with overnight lows again falling into
the upper teens to mid 20s and daytime highs on Thursday only
rising into the upper 20s to mid 30s.

Once the low moves east of the area Thursday afternoon, high
pressure will briefly build into the region Thursday night before
moving offshore on Friday. This will result in a mostly dry and
continued cold day on Friday until a slight chance of snow
showers returns to the region late in the day as a developing low
passes well to the east of the area.
