Skies were mostly clear across western Kansas overnight before
some mid and high level clouds moved east across the area early
this morning. Low temperatures ranged from the lower 20s in the
snow covered areas of west central and northwestern Kansas to the
upper 20s and lower 30s elsewhere.

Late this morning a cold front extended from northeastern Nebraska
to central Nebraska to northeastern Colorado. The front will
continue to move south this afternoon and by Saturday morning
will be well into far west and central Texas. Strong surface high
pressure will build into the Central Plains behind the front. As
an upper level trough moves east across the region, there will be
a chance for snow this afternoon mainly from northeastern Colorado
into much of Nebraska. As much as an inch and a half to two and a
half inches of snow will be possible from the Nebraska Panhandle
to north central Nebraska. Very little accumulation can be
expected elsewhere. Clouds will be increasing across the remainder
of the region later this afternoon and evening. Light snow showers
will be possible in eastern Colorado and northwestern Kansas
tonight with light rain from far eastern Kansas to central
Oklahoma. Much colder temperatures can be expected on Saturday.

High temperatures this afternoon will range from around 30 in
parts of the Nebraska Panhandle and northwestern Nebraska to the
upper 60s in parts of the Southern High Plains. Highs in western
Kansas will range from the upper 40s in the northwest to the lower
60s near the Oklahoma border. Lows tonight will range from the
teens in the Central High Plains to the mid 30s in central
