REGIONAL WEATHER SUMMARY FOR WESTERN KANSAS

SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS THAT WERE IN WESTERN KANSAS THURSDAY
EVENING HAD DIMINISHED OVERNIGHT.  RAINFALL AMOUNTS WERE HIGHEST
FROM NORTHEAST OF LAKIN TO NEAR GARDEN CITY UP ACROSS SCOTT AND LANE
COUNTIES INTO WESTERN TREGO COUNTY.  AMOUNTS WERE GENERALLY BETWEEN
ONE AND TWO INCHES IN THIS AREA WITH ISOLATED AMOUNTS OF OVER TWO
INCHES.  ACROSS THE REMAINDER OF WESTERN KANSAS AMOUNTS VARIED FROM
LESS THAN A FEW HUNDREDTHS TO NEAR AN INCH.  ONLY SOME HIGH LEVELS
CLOUDS WERE OBSERVED THIS MORNING.  LOW TEMPERATURES OVERNIGHT WERE
IN THE 50S.

A COLD FRONT WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE THROUGH THE CENTRAL PLAINS THIS
AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.  AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH IS EXPECTED TO MOVE
EAST ACROSS THE REGION TONIGHT, WHILE SURFACE HIGH PRESSURES BUILDS
IN BEHIND THE FRONT.  NEAR SEASONAL TEMPERATURES CAN BE EXPECTED
SOUTH OF THE FRONT THIS AFTERNOON.  SCATTERED SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS MAY DEVELOP ALONG THE FRONT THIS AFTERNOON, BUT THE
BEST CHANCE FOR STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE FROM THE
SOUTHERN HIGH PLAINS TO WESTERN OKLAHOMA.

HIGH TEMPERATURES THIS AFTERNOON WILL RANGE FROM THE LOWER 60S IN
NORTHWESTERN NEBRASKA TO THE LOWER 80S FROM SOUTH CENTRAL KANSAS TO
CENTRAL OKLAHOMA.  WESTERN KANSAS WILL SEE HIGHS IN THE 70S.  LOWS
TONIGHT WILL RANGE FROM THE UPPER 30S IN NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA TO
THE LOWER 60S IN CENTRAL OKLAHOMA.  LOWS IN WESTERN KANSAS WILL
RANGE FROM THE MID 40S TO LOWER 50S.
