Western Kansas had a cloudy sky and occasional areas of light snow
this morning. In the past 24 hours, these snow totals were generally
under a half inch with one inch reported near Hays and around an
inch and a half near Trego Center. The morning low temperatures in
western Kansas varied from around 8 degrees to the middle teens.
An upper level low pressure center in southern Utah will move east
across Colorado and then across Kansas by this evening. At the
surface, a frontal system extended east across southern Kansas. This
front will move south across Oklahoma as a cold front this
afternoon. There is a chance for snow from eastern Colorado across
Nebraska and much of Kansas into the evening hours. This
precipitation is expected to end from the west this evening.
Afternoon high temperatures will range from the single digits in
Nebraska to the upper 20s in southern Kansas, the mid 30s in
southern Oklahoma and the upper 40s across the Texas panhandle.
Overnight low temperatures are expected to range from minus single
digits in northern Nebraska and northwest Kansas to the single
digits in the Oklahoma and Texas panhandles.
