REGIONAL WEATHER SUMMARY FOR WESTERN KANSAS

SNOW HAD ENDED ACROSS SOUTHWESTERN KANSAS EARLY THIS EVENING WITH
ONLY A FEW FLURRIES BEING REPORTED.  THE HIGHEST SNOWFALL AMOUNTS
WERE ALONG THE OKLAHOMA BORDER FROM ELKHART TO MEADE WITH AT LEAST
THREE INCHES OF SNOW.  ELKHART RECEIVED BETWEEN FIVE AND SIX INCHES
OF SNOW.  BOTH JOHNSON AND GARDEN CITY HAD AROUND THREE INCHES OF
SNOW.  TEMPERATURES WERE WELL BELOW NORMAL WITH HIGHS ONLY IN THE
TEENS.

THIS EVENING STRONG SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE WAS CENTERED NEAR
DAVENPORT IOWA AND WAS RIDGING INTO THE CENTRAL PLAINS.  THE HIGH
WILL MOVE INTO THE EASTERN PART OF THE COUNTRY BY EARLY SATURDAY
EVENING.  AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE WILL MOVE FROM THE ROCKIES INTO
THE CENTRAL PLAINS LATE TONIGHT AND SATURDAY.  SNOW IS EXPECTED TO
DEVELOP AGAIN LATER TONIGHT AND CONTINUE ON SATURDAY FOR MOST OF THE
CENTRAL PLAINS.  WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES WERE IN EFFECT FROM THE
NORTHERN PORTION OF THE TEXAS PANHANDLE AND THE OKLAHOMA PANHANDLE
AND SOUTHWESTERN KANSAS EASTWARD INTO EASTERN KANSAS AND ACROSS
OKLAHOMA.  THE HIGHEST SNOWFALL AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED TO BE FROM
SOUTHEASTERN COLORADO ACROSS SOUTHERN KANSAS WITH AN ADDITIONAL TWO
TO FOUR INCHES POSSIBLE.  THE SNOW WILL BEGIN TO TAPER OFF DURING
THE DAY FROM WEST TO EAST.

LOW TEMPERATURES TONIGHT WILL RANGE FROM THE SINGLE DIGITS IN THE
CENTRAL HIGH PLAINS TO THE UPPER TEENS IN CENTRAL OKLAHOMA.  HIGHS
SATURDAY WILL BE MAINLY IN THE 20S WITH LOWER 30S SOUTH OF THE
KANSAS BORDER.
