A clear sky prevailed across almost all of western Kansas
overnight. Low temperatures ranged from the upper 60s to lower

Strong upper level high pressure that was centered over Oklahoma
this morning will move very little through tonight, while a
surface trough remains in the lee of the Rockies. Hot temperatures
can be expected across most of the Central Plains this afternoon.
In addition to the heat, excessive heat warnings were in effect
for much of eastern Kansas into central Nebraska. High humidities
in eastern Kansas will produce heat indices of 105 to 110 degrees.
Mostly clear skies can be expectd for most of the region through
tonight. Isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms may develop
later this afternoon or evening in eastern Colorado and move into
extreme northwestern Kansas and southwestern Nebraska.

High temperatures this afternoon will range from the mid 90s from
Amarillo to Oklahoma City to around 104 in north central Kansas.
Lows tonight will range from the mid 60s in the far Western High
Plains to the upper 70s in eastern Kansas.
