REGIONAL WEATHER SUMMARY FOR WESTERN KANSAS

After the early morning freezing drizzle ended, skies remained
mostly cloudy across southwest Kansas today, along with temperatures
remaining well below normal. Highs today ranged from the mid 40s in
southeast Kansas, to the upper teens in northwest Kansas.
The weakening upper level trough in the northern plains will move
off into southern Canada tonight, while the large upper level low
pressure system in the Pacific northwest strengthens and digs
southeast into the Intermountain region of the Rockies. Cold
Canadian surface high pressure building across the plains states
will remain through tomorrow night, with bitter cold temperatures
filtering south through the central plains. Winds will remain gusty
through tomorrow morning, but will taper off during the afternoon.
Low temperatures tonight will range from the single digits below
zero from southwest Nebraska through northwest Kansas, to the low
20s in southeast Kansas. Highs tomorrow will only reach into the mid
to upper teens across the western half of Kansas, with low to mid
20s across the eastern half of the state.
