Regional Weather Summary for Western Kansas
National Weather Service Dodge City KS
1206 PM CDT WED SEP 21 2016 /1106 AM MDT WED SEP 21 2016/

Temperatures were warm this morning due to cloud cover and
moderate southerly winds overnight. Most of southwest Kansas only
dropped to the upper 70s, with the exception of south central
Kansas dropping into the mid-60s due to fewer clouds.

Today, an upper level disturbance is approaching Nebraska via
Colorado. At the surface is a trough that`s formed in eastern
Colorado and will move toward Southwest Kansas today. Due to this
low pressure system, isolated storms are expected this evening.
However they should not be severe.

In the meantime, unseasonably hot temperatures in the 90s will
continue today, though temperatures should be cooler than
yesterday due to a thicker cloud deck. South winds will gust to
over 30 mph today. Tonight, temperatures will drop into the 60s
with south winds at 5-15 mph.
