REGIONAL WEATHER SUMMARY FOR WESTERN KANSAS

PRECIPITATION CAME TO END ACROSS WESTERN KANSAS EARLY THIS MORNING.
MOST OF THE PRECIPITATION WAS IN THE FORM OF RAIN, WITH SOME LIGHT
SNOW AROUND THE HAYS AREA.  CATHARINE PICKED UP AN INCH OF SNOW.
THE LIGHTEST PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS WERE ACROSS THE WEST WITH
GENERALLY LESS THAN A TENTH OF AN INCH.  THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS WERE
TOWARD CENTRAL KANSAS AND AROUND THE ASHLAND AREA.  OVER THREE
QUARTERS OF AN INCH OF RAIN WAS REPORTED SOUTH OF ASHLAND.  MOST OF
THE CLOUDS HAD CLEARED AFTER SUNRISE THIS MORNING.  LOW TEMPERATURES
WERE GENERALLY IN THE UPPER TEENS TO MID 20S.  WINDS WERE GUSTY OUT
OF THE NORTH AS A COLD FRONT MOVED SOUTH ACROSS THE AREA OVERNIGHT.
WINDS WERE NORTH AT 20 TO 30 MPH GUSTING TO NEAR 40 MPH.

HIGH PRESSURE AT THE SURFACE WILL CONTINUE TO BUILD INTO THE CENTRAL
PLAINS THIS AFTERNOON AND EXTEND FROM NEBRASKA TO KANSAS TONIGHT,
WHILE AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH MOVES AWAY FROM THE EASTERN PLAINS.
HIGH TEMPERATURES THIS AFTERNOON WILL BE WELL BELOW NORMAL,
ESPECIALLY ACROSS NEBRASKA AND NORTHERN KANSAS.  CLOUDS WILL
CONTINUE TO LINGER ACROSS THE EASTERN PORTION OF THE PLAINS BEFORE
CLEARING OUT TONIGHT.  WINDY CONDITIONS CAN BE EXPECTED THIS
AFTERNOON BEFORE SETTLING DOWN THIS EVENING.  TEMPERATURES WILL BE
MUCH COLDER TONIGHT.

HIGH TEMPERATURES THIS AFTERNOON WILL RANGE FROM AROUND 10 IN PARTS
OF CENTRAL NEBRASKA TO THE LOWER 40S IN CENTRAL OKLAHOMA.  LOWS
TONIGHT WILL RANGE FROM NEAR ZERO IN PARTS OF CENTRAL NEBRASKA TO
THE LOWER 20S IN THE SOUTHERN HIGH PLAINS.
