Regional Weather Summary for Western Kansas

While clouds decreased across the northern part of western Kansas
today, skies were mostly sunny in the south. A weak cool front had
moved into parts of southwest Kansas this afternoon. An isolated
thunderstorm had moved into the extreme northwest corner early
this evening. High temperatures ranged from the mid 70s around the
Hays and Hill City area to around 90 to 95 south of the front
from Liberal to Medicine Lodge.

An upper level storm system over southern California will move into
the central and southern Rockies by late Thursday afternoon. An area
of surface low pressure is expected to strengthen on Thursday near
the Colorado Kansas line, while a nearly stationary frontal boundary
extends from southwest Kansas to southeastern Nebraska. Isolated
severe thunderstorms in northeastern Kansas and north central
Oklahoma will continue to move east overnight. Scattered
thunderstorms may develop in northern Kansas and southern Nebraska
tonight. Thursday will be an active day for severe weather
especially from southern Nebraska and northern Kansas into central
Kansas during the afternoon.

Low temperatures tonight will range from the mid and upper 40s in
the far Western High Plains to the lower 70s in central Oklahoma.
Highs Thursday will range from the low to mid 70s in the Central
High Plains to the upper 80s from southwestern Kansas to the
Southern High Plains.
