Regional Weather Summary for Western Kansas

Other than some high level clouds in parts of northwestern Kansas,
skies were mostly clear across the remainder of western Kansas
overnight. Low temperatures were in the upper 60s to lower 70s.

Strong upper level high pressure will be located across the
Southern and Central Plains through tonight, while a surface
trough remains in the Western High Plains. Very hot temperatures
can be expected for most of the region this afternoon. Excessive
heat warnings were in effect from eastern Kansas into central
Nebraska. High humidities will push the heat indices into the 106
to 111 degree range for eastern Kansas. Heat advisories were in
effect for parts of western Kansas and central Oklahoma. Isolated
to scattered thunderstorms will be possible late this afternoon
and evening from northeastern Colorado into parts of northwestern
Kansas and southwestern Nebraska. Skies will be mostly clear
through tonight for the remainder of the region.

High temperatures this afternoon will range from the mid 90s in
extreme southeastern Kansas to between 100 and 105 in western and
central Kansas. Lows tonight will range from the mid 60s in the
Nebraska Panhandle and parts of eastern Colorado to the upper 70s
in parts of central and eastern Kansas.
