1043 AM CDT THU MAY 26 2016 /943 AM MDT THU MAY 26 2016/
Areas of fog and low clouds covered western Kansas during the
early morning hours. By midmorning it had cleared and skies were
mostly sunny. Conditions remained dry during the overnight hours
with generally light winds. Lows ranged from the low to mid 50s in
southwestern Kansas to the low to mid 60s further northeast.
An upper level disturbance will move northeast into the four
corners region this afternoon. At the surface there will be a low
pressure located in southwestern Kansas with a warm front and
dryline associated with it. There is a significant risk for severe
weather across west central Kansas late this afternoon and through
the evening. There is still quite a bit of uncertainty on where
the dryline and warm front will be positioned, but we are
expecting storms developing east of the dryline. Large hail up to
3 inches and tornadoes will be possible with these storms.
Highs today will climb into the mid to upper 80s across eastern
Colorado and across Kansas. Lows tonight will range from the low
to mid 50s in eastern Colorado and western Kansas to the mid to
upper 60s in the central and eastern portions of the state.
