Western Kansas enjoyed fantastic spring weather on Friday, with
afternoon temperatures in the 70s under a sunny sky.

An upper level ridge of high pressure will move east away from
western Kansas on Saturday, with southwest flow developing aloft.
A strong disturbance will approach western Kansas from Colorado
late on Saturday. Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop
along a surface trough ahead of this feature Saturday afternoon
and evening, across northwest Kansas and southwest Nebraska. Some
of these storms may be strong to marginally severe, with small
hail and strong wind gusts.

Saturday will be windy and warm, with afternoon highs well above
normal in the 80s. Expect strong south winds on Saturday,
averaging 20 to 30 mph with gusts as high as 45 mph.
