REGIONAL WEATHER SUMMARY FOR WESTERN KANSAS
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DODGE CITY KS
920 PM CDT SAT AUG 16 2014
By mid morning skies across western Kansas had become mostly sunny.
However, high clouds from the thunderstorms in eastern Colorado, and
isolated developing thunderstorms in far western Kansas brought
partly to mostly cloudy skies to western Kansas this afternoon. A
few of these thunderstorms produced small hail and gusty winds, with
only brief rainshowers. High temperatures reached into the mid to
upper 90s across the western half of Kansas, with mid 80s to low 90s
across the eastern half of the state.
A weak upper level disturbance moving across western Kansas this
evening will dissipate by late tonight, while a surface front along
the Kansas and Oklahoma line becomes stationary overnight, and then
returns north across Kansas as a warm front tomorrow. This will
bring a slight chance for thunderstorms to western Kansas again late
tomorrow afternoon into the evening. Temperatures will remain
slightly above normal again tomorrow.
Low temperatures tonight will drop into the low to mid 60s across
northwest Kansas, while the rest of the state only cools into
the upper 60s to low 70s. Highs tomorrow will rise into the upper
80s to mid 90s from eastern through central Kansas, with upper 90s
across western Kansas.
