Another hot day prevailed in western Kansas today as temperatures
reached triple digits across most of the area. Highs ranged from
99 degrees at Garden City to 106 degrees at Hays. Isolated to
widely scattered thunderstorms developed late this afternoon in
parts of far western Kansas. By mid evening there were only a few
showers in far western central Kansas.

Upper level high pressure will remain over the southern part of the
country through Sunday, while an upper level trough moves east
across the Northern Plains later tonight and Sunday morning. This
will help push a cold front into southern Kansas and southeastern
Colorado Sunday. A small chance for thunderstorms will continue
for tonight mainly from eastern Colorado into parts of western
Kansas and south central Nebraska. Temperatures will not be quite
as hot on Sunday. There will be a chance for widely scattered to
scattered thunderstorms to develop mainly later in the afternoon
and evening in the Central Plains.

Low temperatures tonight will range from the lower 60s in parts of
western and central Nebraska to the mid and upper 70s from central
and eastern Kansas to central Oklahoma. Highs Saturday will range
from the mid and upper 80s in western and central Nebraska to
around 100 from south central Kansas to western and central
