Regional Weather Summary for Western Kansas

Severe storms erupted across western Kansas today mainly near and
east of Highway 83 from Scott City To Liberal. There were several
tornadoes reported late this afternoon and early this evening.
There were a few tornadoes just west and north of Dodge City that
produced some damage. Most of the storms had moved into central
Kansas late this evening. The storms will continue to move off to
the east overnight. Earlier in the day skies were partly to mostly
cloudy across western Kansas with plenty of sunshine in the
southwest corner. High temperatures were mainly in the 80s with a
few locations reaching around 90 in the southwest.
An upper level disturbance will move east across the eastern
portion of the plains tonight. An upper level storm system along
the California coast is expected to move east across Southern
California on Wednesday, while a surface trough extends from the
Northern Plains to the Southern Plains. Strong to severe
thunderstorms will continue across the eastern portion of the
plains tonight. Skies will be mostly sunny across the west on
Wednesday with a chance for thunderstorms mainly from western
Oklahoma into the eastern portion of the plains.
Low temperatures tonight will range from the mid and upper 40s in
the far Western High Plains to the upper 60s from southeastern
Kansas to central Oklahoma. Highs Wednesday will be mainly in the
80s, except for some lower 90s in the Southern High Plains and mid
70s in parts of northeastern Colorado and western Nebraska.
