...Heat Statistics So Far For August 21-23, 2014 Heat Wave...

A heat wave began building across the Southeast on Thursday,
August 21st. In our local area, widespread heat index values of
105 degrees or more were observed, with quite a few stations in
the 108-112 degree range. Some locations closer to the coast in
the Florida Panhandle and Big Bend, as well as some spots closer
to larger bodies of water in the interior Florida Panhandle,
observed heat index values between 113 and 117 degrees,
illustrating the influence warm water can have on surface
dewpoints, and therefore heat index.

This summary will be updated Friday and Saturday with additional
information each day.
