...Elevated Fire Weather Potential Today...

With an overall lack of rainfall across western Massachusetts and
northwest Connecticut, dry conditions persist. South to southwest
winds will gust to around 25 miles per hour today. These winds
will combine with relatively warm temperatures in the lower 70s
within a dry airmass to yield low relative humidity near 35
percent.

This will lead to elevated fire weather conditions through the
daylight hours today.

...Gusty Winds And Dry Weather Raise Fire Weather Concerns Today...

Fire officials in Vermont advise against any open burning today.
The lack of precipitation this month has led to fuels such as
leaves...grass...and small brush to become very dry across all of
Vermont. Winds today will gust in the 15 to 25 mph range and
humidities will be lowering in the afternoon. All of these factors
will increase the potential for any fires that do start to spread
quickly and become more difficult to contain.
