HYDROLOGIC OUTLOOK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DULUTH MN
636 AM CDT FRI JUN 27 2014

.....HEAVY RAIN THIS WEEKEND MAY PRODUCE LOCAL FLOODING AND
RIVER RISES.....

AN INCREASINGLY MOIST AND UNSTABLE ATMOSPHERE IS EXPECTED TO
DEVELOP OVER THE NORTHLAND TODAY AND CONTINUE THROUGH THE
WEEKEND. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL INCREASE IN FREQUENCY AND
INTENSITY AS A SLOW MOVING FRONTAL SYSTEM APPROACHES THE REGION.
ALTHOUGH IT IS DIFFICULT TO SPECIFY THE LOCATION AND TIMING OF THE
HIGHEST THREAT OF FLOODING...THE INITIAL CONCERN IS FOCUSED FROM THE ST
CROIX RIVER VALLEY TO THE BRAINERD AND LEECH LAKES VICINITY...AND
NORTH INTO THE BORDERLAND THROUGH EARLY SATURDAY.

DESPITE THE ABUNDANCE OF MOISTURE AVAILABLE FOR LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN
THIS WEEKEND... THERE IS STILL MUCH UNCERTAINTY REGARDING EXACTLY
WHERE THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS WILL OCCUR SATURDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT.
ADDITIONAL FLOODING IS POSSIBLE AS THE RAIN RUNS OFF INTO AREA
STREAMS AND RIVERS. LOW- LYING AREAS THAT ARE SUSCEPTIBLE TO
FLOODING ARE ALSO AT RISK. RAPID RISES IN STREAM AND RIVER LEVELS
MAY OCCUR AND LOCAL ROAD CLOSURES AND WASHOUTS ARE POSSIBLE.
PLEASE MONITOR THE LATEST FORECAST FOR UPDATES.
