National Weather Service Duluth MN
1019 AM CDT Wed Oct 18 2017

South Cass-Crow Wing-Northern Aitkin-
Including the cities of Ely, Hibbing, Walker, Grand Rapids,
Pine River, Brainerd, and Hill City
1019 AM CDT Wed Oct 18 2017

Very dry air over the Northland combined with strong west winds
will create near-critical fire weather conditions today. Wind
speeds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph and humidity values
of 20 to 30 percent will enhance the potential for rapid fire
spread and growth from the Brainerd Lakes northeast across central
and northern St. Louis County this afternoon.

Avoid burning outdoors today and discard burning items, including
cigarettes, in a safe and fire resistant container.
