Snow was falling over portions of the Iron Range and Arrowhead
south through northern Wisconsin as of late evening. More snow
will develop across the Northland later tonight, along with some
some freezing rain or drizzle. The precipitation will increase
after midnight. The heaviest snowfall will be in the Minnesota
Arrowhead, but other areas of northeast Minnesota and northwest
Wisconsin will see snow accumulation as well. The snow and
freezing drizzle will make roads slippery overnight into Wednesday.
Total snow accumulation through Wednesday is expected to range
from 3 to 6 inches in the Minnesota Arrowhead with some locally
higher amounts, to 1 to 3 inches from the Brainerd Lakes Region
into Pine City and Siren. Amounts of 2 to 4 inches will also be
possible from the head of Lake Superior across much of northern
Wisconsin. If you will be driving across the region overnight and
on Wednesday, be sure to allow some extra time to reach your
destination safely.
