...The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a
Hydrologic Outlook for potential river flooding...for all or
portions of the following rivers in Iowa...Chariton River...

  Affecting the following counties in Iowa...Lucas...Wayne

.The combination of heavy rains last night and forecast heavy rains tonight
may result in the Chariton River briefly reaching flood stage late on Tuesday.

This Hydrologic Outlook is based on both observed and forecast
precipitation. The rivers may respond differently than indicated...
if actual precipitation is greater or less than expected.

Later statements...possibly warnings...will be issued as additional
information becomes available.

  The Chariton River near Chariton...or From Wolf Creek...to Rathbun
* At 9:45 AM Monday the stage was 6.7 feet...or 12.8 feet below
  Flood Stage.
* Flood Stage is 19.5 feet.
* No flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is possible.
* Forecast...the river may rise to Flood Stage Tuesday evening. The
  river may then rise to 19.7 feet...or 0.2 feet above Flood
  Stage...early Wednesday morning. The river may go below Flood
  Stage early Wednesday morning.
* Impact...At 16.0 feet...About 5000 acres flood.
