...The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a
Hydrologic Outlook for potential river flooding...for all or
portions of the following rivers in Iowa...Des Moines River...

  Affecting the following counties in Iowa...Davis...Mahaska...
  Wapello

This Hydrologic Outlook is based on both observed and forecast
precipitation. The rivers may respond differently than indicated...
if actual precipitation is greater or less than expected.

Later statements...possibly warnings...will be issued as additional
information becomes available.

Outlook information for
  The Des Moines River near Eddyville...or From Cedar Creek near
  Tracy...to Middle Avery Creek near Chillicothe.
* At  3:15 PM Wednesday the stage was 58.2 feet...or 2.8 feet below
  Flood Stage.
* Flood Stage is 61.0 feet.
* No flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is possible.
* Forecast...the river may rise to Flood Stage after midnight
  tonight. The river may then rise to 62.7 feet...or 1.7 feet above
  Flood Stage...Thursday afternoon. The river may go below Flood
  Stage early Friday morning.

  The Des Moines River at Ottumwa...or From Middle Avery Creek near
  Chillicothe...to Eldon.
* At  3:50 PM Wednesday the stage was 8.3 feet...or 2.7 feet below
  Flood Stage.
* Flood Stage is 11.0 feet.
* No flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is possible.
* Forecast...the river may rise to Flood Stage early Thursday
  morning. The river may then rise to 14.9 feet...or 3.9 feet above
  Flood Stage...Thursday evening. The river may go below Flood Stage
  midday Friday.
* Impact...At  15.0 feet...Flooding occurs in rural areas both
  upstream and downstream of Ottumwa.
