...The National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio has issued
 a flood warning for the...

  Colorado River

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

All persons with interests along the river should monitor
the latest forecasts, and be prepared to take necessary
precautions to protect life and property.

River stage forecasts are based on observed rainfall along with
predicted rain for the next 12 hours. If actual rainfall varies
from forecast values, forecast river stages will vary.

Do not drive automobiles through flooded areas. Remember, 18 inches
of water or less can carry away most vehicles, including trucks.

If you see flood waters or come upon a flooded roadway, remember
to turn around and do not drown.

...Forecast flooding increased from Moderate to Major severity...
The flood warning continues for
 the Colorado River At Bastrop.
* until Saturday morning...or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 1:45 AM Friday the stage was 14.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 23.0 feet.
* Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by early Friday morning and continue to rise
  to near 33.0 feet by late Friday morning. The river will fall below flood stage
  by Friday evening.
* Impact...At 33.0 feet...Disastrous flooding severely damages the Doty River,
  Hidden Valley, and Pecan Shores subdivisions above Smithville. Roads and
  bridges near the river are very dangerous.
* FLOOD HISTORY...THIS CREST COMPARES TO A PREVIOUS CREST OF 32.3 feet on Oct 19
  1998.

* Flood Warning for
  the Colorado River Near Smithville.
* from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning...or until the warning is cancelled.
* At 1:10 AM Friday the stage was 8.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by Friday afternoon and continue to rise to
  near 29.0 feet after Midnight on Saturday morning. The river will fall below flood
  stage by Saturday evening.
* Impact...At 30.0 feet...Major flooding inundates homes five miles upstream in
  Hidden Valley Estates, three miles upstream in Doty River Estates, one mile
  upstream in Pecan Shores Estates just above Smithville and in Kirtley below
  Smithville..
* FLOOD HISTORY...THIS CREST COMPARES TO A PREVIOUS CREST OF 29.9 feet on May 27
  2015.

...Forecast flooding increased from Moderate to Major severity...
The flood warning continues for
 the Colorado River Above La Grange.
* from early this morning to Sunday evening...or until the warning is cancelled.

* At 1:31 AM Friday the stage was 18.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 26.0 feet.
* Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by early Friday morning and continue to rise
  to near 40.3 feet after Midnight on Saturday morning. The river will fall below flood
  stage by Sunday morning.
* Impact...At 40.0 feet...The lowest sites of a trailer park in La Grange in the
  northwest quadrant of Highway 71 and the Colorado river are threatened. Lowest
  homes in the Fritsch Auf subdivision have several feet of water in them.
  Severely flooded roads and bridges near the river make travel and evacuations
  dangerous..
* FLOOD HISTORY...THIS CREST COMPARES TO A PREVIOUS CREST OF 41.6 feet on Nov 23
  2004.
