THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A

* SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF
  WESTERN...NORTHERN AND CENTRAL KANSAS
  CENTRAL AND EAST CENTRAL NEBRASKA

* EFFECTIVE THIS WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 305 PM
  UNTIL 1100 PM CDT.

* PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...
  SCATTERED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH LIKELY
  SCATTERED LARGE HAIL EVENTS TO 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER POSSIBLE

THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 75
STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 35 MILES NORTHWEST OF
COLUMBUS NEBRASKA TO 75 MILES SOUTH OF HILL CITY KANSAS.  FOR A

FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY
DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.

REGION. ANTICIPATED THERMODYNAMIC ENVIRONMENT...ALONG WITH 40-45 KT
SWLY 700-700 MB FLOW AHEAD OF WEAK IMPULSE APPROACHING FROM THE
CNTRL HIGH PLNS...MAY PROMOTE RELATIVELY HIGH-BASED STORMS WITH A
POTENTIAL FOR BOTH SVR HAIL AND DMGG WIND. THE STORMS MAY GROW INTO
A CLUSTER/SQLN THIS EVE THAT STRADDLES THE KS-NEB BORDER. THIS MCS
COULD POSE A CONTINUED RISK FOR SVR WEATHER AS IT MOVES GENERALLY
