...Forecast flooding Changed from Major to Record severity for the
following rivers in Illinois...

  Des Plaines River near Gurnee affecting Lake County

.The Des Plaines River at Gurnee is forecast to crest late this
afternoon into the evening at a slightly higher level...now at 12.0
feet. It could possibly reach 12.1 feet. Scattered thunderstorms are
possible overnight, but they are not expected to add much rainfall to
the basin.


Safety message...If you encounter a flooded roadway...turn around and
find an alternate route.

...Forecast flooding increased from Major to Record severity...
The Flood Warning continues for
 The Des Plaines River near Gurnee.
* until late Wednesday night.
* At 530 AM Saturday the stage was 11.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 7.0 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and Record flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 12.0 feet by this
  evening. The river will fall below flood stage Wednesday evening.
* Impact...At 11.0 feet...US Route 41 closes.
