Generally cloudy skies and scattered showers were common
across the area Friday, as a warm front lifted northward
through the region. Rainfall amounts across most of the area
Friday were light, with the exception of the Independence
area; where over an inch fell with two rounds of
thunderstorms between 1 and 4 pm. Temperatures topped out in
the mid 70s near Dubuque, while the Mount Pleasant area saw
the temperature climb into the mid 80s.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected across the area
tonight, with locally heavy rains of 2 to 4 inches possible.
The areas most at risk of the heavy rains and possible
flooding concerns will be along a line from North Liberty
southwest to Abingdon, Iowa. The thunderstorm activity will
become more isolated to scattered during the middle of the
night. Temperatures will settle into the lower and middle 60s
by daybreak.
