Partly cloudy to cloudy skies and west northwest winds of 10
to 20 miles an hour prevailed across the area Thursday afternoon,
as high pressure built into the region from the northwest.
Temperatures topped out in the upper teens near Independence,
while readings in the lower 30s were seen near Macomb.

High pressure will build over the upper Mississippi River Valley
overnight tonight, providing the area with partly to mostly
cloudy skies. Northwesterly winds of 5 to 15 miles an hour will
become northeast overnight, as temperatures drop into the single
digits to mid teens. Some areas north of Highway 20 will slip
below zero. Wind chills during the morning commute will be between
5 and minus 15.
