AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION FOR AMERICAN SAMOA AND INDEPENDENT SAMOA

.SHORT TERM...
TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT...SATELLITE IMAGERIES SHOW NUMEROUS
LOW CLOUDS OVER THE ISLANDS AND AN ACTIVE LOW TO THE FAR
NORTHEAST. THIS LOW WILL SLIGHTLY DESCEND SOUTHEAST TONIGHT BEFORE
DISSIPATING ON THURSDAY MORNING. RAOB FROM THIS AFTERNOON DEPICTS
AN UNSTABLE PROFILE. THE TROUGH AXIS CONNECTING THE LOW TO THE
NORTHEAST AND THE LOW NEAR TONGA WILL REMAIN OVER THE ISLANDS
TONIGHT. STRONG HIGH PRESSURE TO THE SOUTH WILL PENETRATE AND
BREAK THE TROUGH AXIS ON THURSDAY MORNING. HENCE INTRODUCING AND
GENERATING GENTLE TO THE BREEZY TRADES ACROSS THE ISLANDS STARTING
ON THURSDAY MORNING. THEREFORE...EXPECT NUMEROUS SHOWERS TONIGHT
BEFORE SUBSIDING TO THE ISOLATED SHOWERS ON THURSDAY MORNING.
LIGHT AND VARIABLE WINDS WILL BECOME GENTLE TRADES ON THURSDAY
MORNING. GENTLE TRADES WILL INCREASE TO BREEZY CONDITIONS ON
FRIDAY NIGHT.

.LONG TERM...
SATURDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY...HIGH PRESSURE TO THE SOUTH WILL
CONTINUE TO DICTATE WEATHER ACROSS THE ISLANDS DURING THE LONG
TERM. HOWEVER...NEW MODEL OUTPUT DISPLACE A SURFACE TROUGH
DEVELOPING OVER THE ISLANDS ON MONDAY. WILL KEEP THE PREVIOUS LONG
TERM FOR NOW WHILE MONITORING A FEW MORE RUNS. THEREFORE NO
CHANGES TO THE PREVIOUS FCST.

.MARINE...
SEAS OF 7 TO 9 FT WILL CONTINUE TO IMPACT COASTAL WATERS TONIGHT.
SEAS WILL SUBSIDE BELOW ADVISORY LEVELS ON THURSDAY MORNING. WILL
STRONG TRADES MOVING ACROSS THE ISLANDS ON FRIDAY NIGHT...SEAS
WILL AGAIN RISE 7 TO 9 FT ON SATURDAY MORNING. THESE CONDITIONS
WILL PERSIST THROUGH THE REST OF THE FORECAST.
