...POTENTIAL FLOODING ALONG SOME RIVERS IN NORTHWEST OREGON AND
SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON LATER THIS WEEK...
Many rivers will again be on the rise this week, and there is a
threat of minor flooding along some rivers beginning Wednesday
afternoon. Soils throughout northwest Oregon and southwest
Washington are completely saturated, and additional rain this week
will have nowhere to go but in the creeks and rivers. Melting snow
from the Cascades foothills will also contribute to the increasing
Of particular note, the mainstem Columbia is rising due to high
runoff from tributaries in Idaho, Washington, and Oregon. The
Columbia River at Vancouver is expected to get close to flood
stage by Thursday afternoon, crest at or near flood stage, and
remain high through the weekend.
Other rivers in Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington with the
potential for flooding include the Tualatin, Clackamas, and lower
