Rangeland Fire Danger Statement
National Weather Service Sioux Falls SD
416 AM CDT Tue Apr 18 2017

.DISCUSSION...
Showers and thunderstorms will continue to move eastward this
morning. However despite the rain, not sure if it will rain enough
to keep southwest Minnesota and the Iowa Great Lakes region away
from reaching high on the grassland fire danger index this
afternoon. Winds will become west to northwest, and will be quite
breezy all day in that area. But the winds will decrease a bit
elsewhere this afternoon. Wednesday will be a chilly, rainy day.

...HIGH FIRE DANGER...

The Grassland Fire Danger Index will reach the high category
this afternoon. Unfavorable weather conditions or a low
moisture content of grasses and other dry organic material
on the ground indicate that there is a moderate to high
potential for a fire occurrence. Outdoor burning should be
restricted to early morning or evening hours when wind speeds
are usually lower and the relative humidity is higher.

OUTLOOK FOR WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON...The Grassland Fire Danger Index
will reach the low category.

category this afternoon. Marginal weather conditions or a
moderate moisture content of grasses and other dry organic
material on the ground...indicate that there is some potential
for a fire occurrence. Do not leave outdoor fires unattended
under these conditions.

OUTLOOK FOR WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON...The Grassland Fire Danger Index
will reach the low category.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

this afternoon. Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture
content of grasses and other dry organic material on the

Outdoor burning under these conditions can usually be performed
with reasonable safety precautions.

OUTLOOK FOR WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON...The Grassland Fire Danger Index
will reach the low category.
