.DISCUSSION...
KEY MESSAGES:

1) Upper ridge will build over the area today and Tuesday.

2) Hot weather will return Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in
the 90s to near 100.

3) Cooler conditions to follow Thursday and Friday with gusty NW
winds on Thursday.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:

An upper trough moves to our east this morning allowing an upper
ridge to build over the northern Rockies that will remain over the
area until Wednesday. With W or SW flow, temperatures will warm
with highs in the upper 80s and 90s Tuesday, 90s to low 100s
Wednesday. This will be lower humidities that will be in the
teens in most areas on Wednesday. At this point, west to SW winds
will be less than 15 mph. Elevated fire weather conditions are
possible with the low RH but more wind would be needed for
critical fire weather conditions to occur. Heat impact levels are
currently forecasted to high enough along and south of US Highway
2 that a Heat Advisory may be needed on Wednesday.

An upper trough moves across the Canadian Prairies Wednesday night
and Thursday which will bring a cold front through NE Montana
Thursday morning with cooler temperatures. The system will bring a
chance of showers and thunderstorms Wednesday night in all areas and
possibly Thursday in some areas. Strong NW winds are possible
Thursday with a Lake Wind Advisory possible on Fort Peck Lake.

Another upper trough moves through the forecast area Thursday
night and Friday with chances for showers and thunderstorms mainly
Thursday night followed by cooler temperatures on Friday.

Warmer temperatures return for the weekend as the upper trough
moves to the east.
FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:

There is high confidence of temperatures reaching the 90s to near
100 for many locations by Wednesday.

Low confidences on any showers and thunderstorm chances this week.

No deviations from the NBM at this time.
