Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Pago Pago AS
118 PM SST Mon Sep 18 2017

.Short term...
TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT...Current model data continue to
keep a surface trough lingering near the Samoan islands through
the short term. Light and variable winds will also remain through
at least Tuesday night. Gentle to moderate trades are forecast to
return across the area as a high pressure system far Southwest
migrate Eastward. Hence, will continue previous forecast through
the short term.

.Long term...
THURSDAY THROUGH MONDAY...The aforementioned trough is forecast to
linger close to the islands through the long term...bringing
periods of showers across the Samoan islands. The high pressure
system is anticipated to continue its Eastward migration and
weaken. Hence, the trades are expected to become more light and
variable again by the weekend. Hence, will slightly adjust
forecast to reflect current model solutions.

Current PacIOOS Aunu`u wave buoy show heights remaining below
advisory thresholds this afternoon. The winds have also become
light and variable this afternoon. Hence, the advisories for small
crafts and high surfs will be canceled this afternoon. We do not
anticipate any advisories for the remainder of the forecast
