Area Forecast Discussion

.DISCUSSION...
The latest satellite imageries shows open cumuli clouds moving
across the territory. These low level clouds will only produce
passing showers, if any. This is also reflected on the latest
upper air sounding and the hourly obserations throughout the day.
A high pressure system to the south continues to bring dry and
stable conditions with gentle to moderate trades over the area
through the weekend. These trades will turn east going into the
new week. Embedded within the tradewind-flow are likely passing
showers, gusty during heavy downpours. Expect isolated to
scattered showers with gentle to moderate trades for the short
term forecast period.

However, model data also shows the aforementioned high pressure
system exiting the region by the beginning of the new week. This
will allow for a trough to the north to move over the islands,
increasing the potential for showers and thunderstorms. Therefore,
expect scattered to numerous showsers with winds remaining in the
gentle to moderate strength for the new week.

.Marine...
A steady and calm trend is observed over coastal waters
throughout the day. Model data is showing seas around 5 to 7
feet for tonight through at least the weekend. Seas will further
subside to 4 to 6 feet for the rest of the forecast period.
Although seas will remain below advisory thresholds for this
forecast period, long periods will peak at around 15 to 20 seconds
on Friday through the new week. The long periods may be ideal for
small crafts out in the open waters but will enhance surfs and
strong rip currents. Therefore, seas will be monitored for further
changes. Otherwise, there is no other significant swell expected
fo this time frame.
