LOCAL AREA OF SOUTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA AND NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS
INVOLVE ONE MORE DAY OF ABOVE AVERAGE HEAT...ALONG WITH A MARGINAL
TO SLIGHT RISK OF A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS...MAINLY DURING THE
AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOURS. AT LEAST SPOTTY THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE
IS EXPECTED OVER MUCH OF THE AREA...WITH SOME STORMS LINGERING
THROUGH THE NIGHT. ALTHOUGH A WIDESPREAD SEVERE WEATHER EPISODE IS
NOT ANTICIPATED...AT LEAST A FEW SEVERE STORMS CANNOT BE RULED
OUT...ESPECIALLY IN COUNTIES NORTH AND WEST OF THE NEBRASKA
TRI-CITIES. HIGHS WILL REACH THE LOW 90S...WITH MID TO UPPER 90S
MORE COMMON IN NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS. FACTORING IN HUMIDITY...HEAT
INDEX VALUES WILL TOP OUT BETWEEN 100 AND 105 DEGREES THIS
AFTERNOON. TURNING TO TUESDAY...ALTHOUGH A FAIRLY SMALL CHANCE FOR
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS LINGERS MAINLY IN SOUTHERN AND EASTERN
PORTIONS OF THE LOCAL AREA...THE MAIN STORY WILL BE A SLIGHT
COOL-DOWN BEHIND A DECENT COLD FRONT...AT LEAST BY JULY STANDARDS.
IN THE WAKE OF THIS FRONT...HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL ONLY REACH THE
MID 80S IN MOST LOCAL NEBRASKA COUNTIES...ALTHOUGH KANSAS AREAS WILL
AGAIN REACH THE 90S. THEN ON WEDNESDAY...THE ENTIRE LOCAL REGION
SHOULD ONLY REACH THE MID 80S.
