Weather Summary for Portions of the Central Plains

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue across
the area this morning. While severe weather is not
anticipated...stronger storms may have gusty winds and small hail.
Additional thunderstorm chances will return to the area later this
afternoon...as a cold front pushes south across the region. There
will be the potential for some of these thunderstorms to be strong
to severe...with hail up to the size of golf balls...60 MPH wind
gusts and locally heavy rainfall the primary hazards. Thunderstorms
are expected to continue on into the overnight hours. Temperatures
today will be noticeably cooler for some locations compared to
yesterday...with forecast highs ranging from the mid to upper 80s in
the north to just over 100 degrees in the far south. Heat index
values of 100 to 105 degrees will be possible this afternoon across
portions of north central Kansas.
