WEATHER SUMMARY FOR PORTIONS OF THE CENTRAL PLAINS
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HASTINGS NE
558 AM CST FRI DEC 19 2014

A FEW HOURS BEFORE SUNRISE FRIDAY MORNING...A SEEMINGLY NEVER-ENDING
BLANKET OF LOW CLOUDS CONTINUED TO BLANKET THE ENTIRE NATIONAL
WEATHER SERVICE HASTINGS COVERAGE AREA OF SOUTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA AND
NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS...WHILE NOT FAR TO THE WEST...CLEAR SKIES
ACTUALLY PREVAILED OVER MUCH OF WESTERN NEBRASKA AND FAR NORTHWEST
KANSAS. WHILE LIGHT FOG WAS PRESENT IN VARIOUS PLACES...A NARROW
CORRIDOR OF HEAVIER FOG CONTINUED TO FORM NEAR THE INTERFACE BETWEEN
THE CLEAR SKIES AND CLOUDS...AFFECTING COUNTIES SUCH AS
DAWSON...GOSPER AND FURNAS WITHIN THE LOCAL AREA. PRE-DAWN
TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE AREA WERE MAINLY BETWEEN 25 AND 30 DEGREES.
LOOKING FORWARD INTO THE DAYLIGHT HOURS...THE MOST PRESSING WEATHER
CONCERN WILL CONTINUE TO FOCUS ACROSS WESTERN PORTIONS OF SOUTH
CENTRAL NEBRASKA...WHERE FOG COULD REMAIN AN ISSUE WELL PAST
SUNRISE. FOR MOST OF THE LOCAL AREA THOUGH...IT WILL JUST BE ANOTHER
CHILLY AND CLOUDY DAY...ALTHOUGH SOME COUNTIES WEST OF THE HIGHWAY
281 CORRIDOR COULD ACTUALLY CATCH A LITTLE SUN. HIGH TEMPERATURES
THIS AFTERNOON ARE FORECAST TO RANGE FROM THE MID-30S IN EASTERN
COMMUNITIES SUCH AS YORK AND HEBRON NEBRASKA...TO THE LOW TO MID 40S
IN WESTERN PLACES SUCH AS BEAVER CITY NEBRASKA AND PLAINVILLE
KANSAS. TONIGHT...FOG COULD AGAIN BECOME AN ISSUE ACROSS PARTS OF
THE LOCAL AREA...BUT IT IS TOO SOON TO TELL WHETHER SOME IT COULD
BECOME DENSE. LOOKING AHEAD OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS...THE GOOD NEWS
FOR MANY FOLKS IS THAT AT LEAST SOME AMOUNT OF SUNSHINE SHOULD
RETURN TO SOUTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA AND NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS OVER THE
WEEKEND...AS HIGH TEMPERATURES IN MOST AREAS CLIMB BACK UP SOMEWHERE
INTO THE 40S ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. THE NEXT CHANCE FOR AT LEAST
LIGHT...BRIEF MEASURABLE RAIN THEN ARRIVES FOR SUNDAY NIGHT...AND
SPOTTY...OFF AND ON LIGHT PRECIPITATION COULD LINGER INTO THE FIRST
PART OF NEXT WEEK. FOR FOLKS WONDERING ABOUT THE CHRISTMAS
FORECAST...CHRISTMAS EVE IS LOOKING DRY BUT THERE ARE CURRENTLY AT
LEAST LOW CHANCES FOR RAIN AND SNOW FOR CHRISTMAS DAY. HOWEVER...DO
NOT BE SURPRISED IF LATER FORECASTS DELAY THESE CHANCES FOR
PRECIPITATION MORE SO INTO FRIDAY THE 26TH.
