AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION FOR AMERICAN SAMOA AND INDEPENDENT SAMOA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PAGO PAGO AS
200 PM SST SAT APR 19 2014

.SHORT TERM...
TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT...SATELLITE IMAGERIES SHOW A NEARLY
STATIONARY LOW LEVEL CONVERGENCES OVER THE SAMOAN ISLANDS. RAOB
FROM THIS AFTERNOON DEPICTS AN UNSTABLE PROFILE. MODELS ARE NOW
SUGGESTING THAT THE LOW LEVEL CONVERGENCE WILL REMAIN NEARLY
STATIONARY NEAR SOUTH AND OVER THE ISLANDS DURING THE REST OF THE
SHORT TERM. THEREFORE...WILL CHANGE THE PREVIOUS FCST TO REFLECT
THESE NEW MODEL OUTPUTS. EXPECT SCATTERED SHOWERS AND GENTLE EAST
WINDS TO DOMINATE THE SHORT TERM.

.LONG TERM...
TUESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY...MODELS ARE NOW HOLDING THE CONVERGENCE
STATIONARY NEAR AND OVER THE ISLANDS THROUGH THE REST OF THE NEW
WEEK. A HIGH TO THE FAR SOUTH CONTINUE EAST WHILE THE CONVERGENCE
IS EXPECTED TO DROP SLIGHTLY SOUTH ON WEDNESDAY...DIMINISHING
GENTLE CONDITIONS TO LIGHT AND VARIABLE. THEREFORE...WILL AMEND
THE LONG TERM TO REFLECT THESE NEW OUTPUTS.

&&

.MARINE...
NO SIGNIFICANT SWELLS ARE EXPECTED IN THE NEW SEVERAL DAYS.

&&

.PPG WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
NONE.
