AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION FOR AMERICAN SAMOA AND INDEPENDENT SAMOA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PAGO PAGO AS
208 PM SST SAT APR 30 2016

.SHORT TERM...
TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT...SATELLITE IMAGERIES SHOW
CONVECTIONS MATERIALIZING OVER THE ISLANDS AND HAS PRODUCED HEAVY
RAINFALL IN THE LAST COUPLE OF HOURS. RAOB FROM THIS AFTERNOON
DEPICTS AN UNSTABLE PROFILE WITH THUNDERSTORMS WITHIN THE FORECAST
AREA. MODELS SUGGEST THAT THE LOW LEVEL CONVERGENCE WILL REMAIN
ACROSS THE TERRITORY TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT. STRONG SOUTH
EAST WINDS WILL DIMINISH TO BREEZY AND GENTLE CONDITIONS ON MONDAY
NIGHT.

.LONG TERM...
TUESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY...THE LOW LEVEL CONVERGENCE WILL MOVE
SOUTH ON TUESDAY AND DIMINISH WINDS TO LIGHT AND VARIABLE ON
TUESDAY MORNING. CONVECTIONS WILL ALSO DESCEND SOUTH ON TUESDAY
MORNING. ANOTHER HIGH PRESSURE MOVING FARTHER SOUTH WILL AGAIN
GENERATE BREEZY TRADES ON SATURDAY. WILL WAIT FOR A FEW MORE RUNS
BEFORE INCLUDING THIS MOVEMENT IN THE LONG TERM. THEREFORE EXPECT
ISOLATED SHOWERS AND VARIABLE WINDS DURING THE LONG TERM.

&&

.MARINE...
AUNUU BUOY DEPICTED SEAS OF 10 TO 13 FT IN THE LAST 6 HOURS.
MODELS SUGGEST THAT SEAS WILL PERSIST IN THESE HAZARDOUS HEIGHTS
BEFORE SUBSIDING TO 7 TO 9 FT ON SUNDAY NIGHT. SEAS WILL SUBSIDE
BELOW ADVISORY LEVELS ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

&&

.PPG WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL WEDNESDAY NIGHT
SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL WEDNESDAY NIGHT
