Farm to Market Road 2760 from Maxdale to Highway 195 is currently experiencing floodwater impacts. The river is moving swift and carrying a significant amount of debris. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - The Lampasas River continues to rise at the gauge near Ding Dong, which is currently at 37.70 feet. This is nearly a 30 foot rise since this morning. The river will likely crest in the next 1 to 2 hours before falling quickly later this evening. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Harker Heights, Stillhouse Hollow Lake, Ding Dong, Maxdale and Youngsport. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Keep children away from storm drains, culverts, creeks, and streams. Water levels can rise rapidly and sweep children away. Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain.
