.Powell County Microburst Wind Damage...

Estimated peak wind: 80 mph
Path length : 300 yards
Path width /Maximum/: 100 yards
Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0

Survey Summary: The National Weather Service surveyed damage at
Natural Bridge State Resort Park. Several trees were felled to the
west and west-northwest across a wide swath. The winds came down
over a ridge top and pushed westward into the valley around Hoedown
Island hitting a playground and outbuilding. Farther west, a tree
also fell on a cabin, at a higher elevation. Speaking with guests at
the park, they said the winds lasted 3-4 minutes, which, along with
the uniform direction of damage, is more indicative of a downburst.

Thanks to the Powell County Emergency Management for escorting us
around the damage area.

The information in this statement is PRELIMINARY and subject to
