WEATHER SUMMARY FOR UPPER MISSISSIPPI RIVER VALLEY
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LA CROSSE WI
301 AM CDT THU AUG 21 2014

SHOWERS AND STORMS WERE DEVELOPING ACROSS THE UPPER MISSISSIPPI
RIVER VALLEY REGION DURING THE OVERNIGHT HOURS...AHEAD OF A WARM
FRONT LIFTING THROUGH IOWA. A HUMID AIRMASS IN THE WAKE OF THIS
FRONT HAS ALLOWED THE STORMS TO PRODUCE HEAVY RAINFALL.
TEMPERATURES EARLY THIS MORNING RANGED FROM THE 60S ACROSS
WISCONSIN TO AROUND 70 ALONG AND WEST OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER.

LOOK FOR PERIODS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS THIS MORNING...WITH
ANOTHER ROUND OF SHOWERS AND STORMS POSSIBLE FROM LATE THIS
AFTERNOON THROUGH THIS EVENING. SOME STORMS COULD PRODUCE
LOCALIZED FLOODING...LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS. THESE STORMS
ARE DUE TO THE WARM FRONT MOVING INTO THE REGION AND THEN STALLING
OUT. ALONG WITH THE STORMS...THE HUMID AIR MOVING IN COMBINED
WITH TEMPERATURES CLIMBING INTO THE 80S WILL MAKE IT FEEL LIKE THE
90S SOUTH AND WEST OF I-94. LOOK FOR LOWS TONIGHT TO REMAIN ON THE
MILD SIDE...ONLY DROPPING TO 65 TO 70.

LOOKING AHEAD TO FRIDAY...A DRIER DAY IS ON TAP WITH JUST A SLIGHT
CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND STORMS SOUTH OF I-90. HOWEVER...THE WARM AND
HUMID CONDITIONS LOOK TO CONTINUE. HIGHS WILL TOP OUT IN THE 80S
WITH HEAT INDICES AGAIN IN THE 90S SOUTH AND WEST OF I-94.
