...MAJOR WINTER STORM EXPECTED TODAY INTO THURSDAY MORNING...

AN UNUSUALLY STRONG ARCTIC COLD FRONT ESPECIALLY FOR MARCH WILL PUSH
THROUGH THE MIDSOUTH FROM THE NORTH TODAY. TEMPERATURES WILL PLUMMET
BEHIND THE FRONT AS NORTHERLY WINDS BECOME VERY STRONG AND GUSTY.
WITH THE MUCH COLDER AIR...RAIN WILL CHANGE TO WINTRY PRECIPITATION.
SIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATIONS OF FREEZING RAIN...SLEET AND SNOW ARE
EXPECTED ACROSS MUCH OF THE MIDSOUTH BY NOON THURSDAY. WINTER STORM
WARNINGS AND WATCHES HAVE BEEN POSTED. MILD AIR WILL PUSH INTO NORTH
MISSISSIPPI TODAY AHEAD OF THE FRONT AND A FEW THUNDERSTORMS ARE
POSSIBLE.

PRECIPITATION WILL MOVE OUT OF THE MIDSOUTH THURSDAY AFTERNOON BUT
BITTER COLD WILL PERSIST INTO SATURDAY MORNING ACROSS MUCH OF THE
AREA. LOW TEMPERATURES WILL DROP INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS TO LOWER
TEENS FRIDAY MORNING WITH WIND CHILL READINGS DROPPING TO BELOW ZERO
ACROSS MUCH OF THE AREA.

TEMPERATURES WILL MODERATE OVER THE WEEKEND BUT REMAIN BELOW NORMAL.
