...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 2001, a strong winter storm system brought a variety of severe
winter weather to all of Northwest Kansas on the morning of January
13th before finally ending in the evening of the same day. Freezing
drizzle iced up roads and sidewalks during the morning hours before
switching over to all snow by noon. Several accidents occurred
across the area with two causing some minor injuries on Interstate
70 in Sherman and Thomas counties. Snowfall amounts varied from 1
to 4 inches south of Highway 40 to 6 to 9 inches along and to the
north of Interstate 70.
