FLOOD STATEMENT

...A Flood Warning continues for portions of the following rivers in
Indiana...

  East Fork White River...Muscatatuck River...Wabash River...White
  River...

.Widespread lowland flooding continues along area rivers in central
and southern Indiana. Significant flooding is possible at a few
locations. Flood crests will or currently are ranging from bankfull
to nearly 8 feet above flood stage in the Montezuma area along the
Wabash River in western Indiana.

The crest on the Wabash as of Monday morning is in the Montezuma
area. Vincennes and Mount Carmel will see the crest arrive during
the evening of the 27th.

The crest on the White River is approaching the Edwardsport area.
The crest will reach the Petersburg and Hazleton areas on the 26th.

The crest on the East Fork White River passed Seymour on Saturday
and is expected to reach the Bedford and Rivervale areas on Tuesday
and Tuesday night respectively. Williams will see the crest arrive
on Wednesday.

Flooding will affect local and some state roads, extensive
bottomlands, river parks and possibly a few residential areas.
Flooding will persist much of the week in central Indiana and into
the final days of January and possibly the first couple days of
February in southwest Indiana and southeast Illinois.

Widespread rains of 1 to nearly 2 inches fell in central and
southern Indiana this past Thursday night. Melted precipitation
since January 10 totals from 2 to slightly more than 4 inches.


Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...

Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

* UNTIL TUESDAY AFTERNOON.
* At  9:45 AM Monday the stage was 15.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
  after midnight tomorrow.
* At 15.0 feet...Lowland agricultural flooding in progress.  County
  road 725 N (near Rockford) floods.  Indiana 258 east of Cortland
  may flood.  On December 8 2014...about an inch of water flowed over
  Reddington Street near the East Fork White River Bridge as the
  river crested.

  The East Fork White River near Rivervale.
* UNTIL FRIDAY MORNING.
* At 10:30 AM Monday the stage was 21.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 23.1 feet by
  tomorrow evening. The river will fall below flood stage Thursday
  before midnight.
* At 22.0 feet...A few local county roads begin to flood and are
  impassable.  These include Buddha Road south of the gage and
  Lawrenceport Road.  All local roads across the East Fork of the
  White River are threatened by high water, and some are closed.
  Flooding of agricultural lands in Lawrence County is in progress.

* FROM LATE TUESDAY NIGHT TO WEDNESDAY EVENING.
* At  8:15 AM Monday the stage was 18.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to near flood stage early
  Wednesday morning.
* At 20.0 feet...Water is over most local roads in the flood plain.
  Be safe...Turn Around and Do Not Drown.  Agricultural lands flood.
  Water covers Bedford Boat Club grounds.   Access to higher
  campground spots at the Bedford Boat Club are blocked by high
  water.

* FROM LATE TUESDAY NIGHT TO THURSDAY AFTERNOON.
* At  7:05 AM Monday the stage was 6.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by early Wednesday morning and
  continue to rise to near 8.1 feet by Wednesday early afternoon.
  The river will fall below flood stage by early Thursday morning.
* At 8.0 feet...Flood stage at Williams.  Bottomlands are beginning to
  flood.  Stumphole road...South Chase Riffle Road and possibly other
  rural county roads in Western Lawrence County flood.

* UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
* At  3:00 PM Sunday the stage was 21.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 21.5 feet by this
  evening then begin falling.
* At 21.7 feet...Several driveways in the Wheeler Hollow area were
  flooded at this level in April 2015.

  The White River at Edwardsport.
* UNTIL FRIDAY EVENING.
* At  7:00 AM Monday the stage was 19.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 19.8 feet by this
  afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage Friday morning.
* At 20.0 feet...Water is at Critical levels for makeshift levees.
  Most of bottomlands flood.  Old Vincennes road and State Road 358
  between Plainville and Edwardsport are impassable by several feet.
  High water surrounds river cabins.  This type of flood occurs on
  average about once a year.

  The White River at Petersburg.
* UNTIL Monday January 30.
* At 10:30 AM Monday the stage was 20.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 20.7 feet by
  Thursday morning. The river will fall below flood stage Sunday
  afternoon.
* At 20.9 feet...During June 2010 State Road 257 south of Washington
  began to flood at this crest level at Petersburg after Shoals
  crested at 18.19 feet.  About a week later Petersburg crested at
  21.34 feet...about one half foot higher...but the water did not
  reach State Road 257 after Shoals crested at 15.59 feet...about 2.5
  feet lower.  Lost River did not contribute much water during this
  June flood and locally it was not extremely wet.

* Forecast...The river is forecast to have a maximum value of 21.4
  feet early Thursday morning.
* At 22.0 feet...In agricultural season, extensive flooding of
  bottomlands and some of the higher bottomlands is in progress.
  High water surrounds Residents in river cabins.  Oil fields and
  local roads flood.

* Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
  Wednesday afternoon.
* At 16.0 feet...Lowland flooding is in progress.  Flood waters near
  SR 225 between Old SR 25 and Battleground.  Warren CR 350 N near
  Black Rock Preserve and Tippecanoe CR 950 W in the Wabash Bottoms,
  Janssen Tract area may be impassable.  Fort Ouiatenon grounds begin
  to flood.  Flooding at the Grandville Public Access site.

* At 24.0 feet...Floodwater is near the top of all agricultural
  levees.  Some county roads are impassable.  High water isolates a
  few rural residents.  Basement flooding begins along Water Street
  in Montezuma.  Medusa Aggregates Company Plant Number 9 begins to
  flood.

* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 19.9 feet by
  tomorrow morning. The river will fall below flood stage late Monday
  morning.
* At 20.0 feet...Access to North Lake and Izaak Walton Areas nearly
  impossible by land vehicles.  South Lake Area and 10 homes near
  Fort Harrison Country Club begin to flood.  Water is at critical
  stage for a few agricultural levees.

* Forecast...The river is forecast to have a maximum value of 21.4
  feet Thursday morning.
* At 22.0 feet...River cabins become isolated.  Basement flooding
  begins in Hutsonville.  Extensive agricultural flooding is in
  progress.  Higher Illinois rural roads in eastern Clark and
  Crawford counties flood.

  roads begin to flood.  High water isolates many river cabins.  Seep
  water becomes a problem.

* At 10:45 AM Monday the stage was 16.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 18.7 feet by
  Friday evening. The river will fall below flood stage Tuesday
  afternoon.
* At 18.0 feet...Agricultural lands and some oil fields flood.
  Several township roads about 1.25 miles south of St. Francesville
  and River Road between Billett Road and Lincoln Memorial Bridge in
  Lawrence County are flooded.  Extensive flooding of Kimmell Park at
  Vincennes.

* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 22.4 feet by
  Sunday early afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage early
  Wednesday morning.
* At 22.0 feet...Flood waters begin to affect residents of East Mt.
  Carmel, Indiana. Fifth Street that parallels river closes.  Twin
  restaurant along the river also closes.  Several local river roads
  flood.
