...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers ...

  Pigeon River At Newport TN affecting Cocke County

Although the precipitation in the immediate area has ended, heavy
precipitation from the past few days will keep waters flowing into
the Pigeon River and will keep it high in the Newport area for the
next few days.


Most deaths in floods occur in automobiles. If you come to a closed
or flooded road, Turn Around! Don`t Drown! For more details, stay
tuned to NOAA Weather Radio or commercial television or radio
stations that carry weather information.


1113 AM EDT SUN OCT 4 2015

...Flood Warning extended until Monday evening...The Flood Warning
continues for
  The Pigeon River At Newport TN.
* From late this afternoon until Monday evening.
* At 10:00 AM Sunday the stage was 7.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
* Nonflood flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by late this afternoon and
  continue to rise to near 9.0 feet by after midnight tomorrow. The
  river will fall below flood stage by tomorrow afternoon.
* At 8.0 feet...Minor flooding occurs downstream from gage on Highway
  25/70 and in the community of Edwina. Jimtown Road may be affected.
