Public Information Statement
National Weather Service Wilmington NC
627 PM EDT Fri Apr 21 2017

The NOAA Weather Radio transmitter, KHB31, in Winnabow, NC will
be down for repairs until Saturday afternoon so that the new Rf
cable and antenna can be replaced. The Winnabow, North Carolina
transmitter serves portions of Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, New
Hanover, Pender, and the adjacent coastal waters off Cape Fear in
southeast North Carolina.

The new cable and antenna will replace equipment that suffered
damage a few months ago. Since that time the transmitter has been
operating at half power. The Winnabow transmitter will be off the
air while the new equipment is installed. The new cable will
reduce signal loss, while the new 8 bay antenna increases the
broadcast footprint of the transmitter. Once installed, the new
antenna and cable will enable the National Weather Service to
better serve communities across southeast NC with observations,
forecasts, and warning information.
