REGIONAL WEATHER SUMMARY FOR WESTERN KANSAS

STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS DRENCHED SOUTHWESTERN KANSAS
SHORTLY AFTER MIDNIGHT, BRINGING MORE TORRENTIAL RAINS TO THE
PLAINS. GIVEN THE ALREADY SATURATED GROUND, SOME LOCALIZED
FLOODING WAS OBSERVED OVERNIGHT. ONE PARTICULAR STORM WHICH
DEVELOPED ACROSS EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN KANSAS PRODUCED A TORNADO
WHICH WAS ON THE GROUND FROM PLAINS TO POSSIBLY SOUTH OF DODGE
CITY. PRE-DAWN LOW TEMPERATURES RANGED FROM THE MID 40S IN EASTERN
COLORADO TO THE LOWER 60S IN SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS.

AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE WILL MOVE ACROSS THE CENTRAL
PLAINS THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING BEFORE MIGRATING FARTHER EAST BY
TUESDAY AFTERNOON. MEANWHILE, A SURFACE TROUGH ACROSS EASTERN
COLORADO AND WESTERN KANSAS WILL SHOW VERY LITTLE EASTWARD
MOVEMENT THROUGH TONIGHT. THIS SURFACE FEATURE WILL BE THE MAIN
FOCUS FOR ANOTHER ROUND OF AFTERNOON AND EVENING THUNDERSTORMS.
THE PRIMARY THREAT FROM THESE STORMS WILL BE HAIL AND HEAVY
RAINFALL.

HIGHS TODAY WILL RANGE FROM THE MID 60S IN NORTHEASTERN COLORADO
TO THE LOWER 80S IN NORTHERN OKLAHOMA. LOWS TONIGHT WILL RANGE
FROM THE MID 40S IN NORTHEASTERN COLORADO TO THE LOWER 60S IN
CENTRAL OKLAHOMA.
