Weather Summary for the local Tri-State Region
National Weather Service New York NY
412 AM EST Tue Feb 21 2017

Dry conditions will continue through the day today as high
pressure builds over the area this morning before shifting
offshore this afternoon. As the high moves east, clouds will
begin to increase ahead of a frontal system approaching the area
from the Midwest. This will bring a period of light rain to the
region overnight tonight into early Wednesday morning as the front
dissipates over the area. The best chance for rain will be across
the Lower Hudson Valley and interior portions of southern
Connecticut.

With increasing clouds and southerly winds ushering in cooler air
off the Atlantic Ocean, high temperatures this afternoon with be
noticeably colder than the past several days, only rising into the
mid to upper 40s. Overnight lows will range from the mid 30s
across outlying areas to the lower 40s in the immediate New York
City metro area. Temperatures will then return to much above
normal levels on Wednesday, ranging from the low to mid 50s across
Long Island and coastal Connecticut to the upper 50s to near 60
from New York City north and west. This is 10-15 degrees above
normal for late February.
